Carol Liffman
Carol examines climate change, the energy transition, and sustainability through the lens of strategic decision and risk management. She has 30+ years of experience across the energy sector, delivering technologically complex megaprojects, and supporting executive teams during transformational change initiatives.
Backgound
Carol’s interest in sustainability grew at Hess Corporation, where on behalf of the CRO, VP EH&S, and VP CSR, she led a cross-functional team chartered to integrate disparate environmental, social, stakeholder, and enterprise risk processes into a single corporate standard. This built on experience at BP, where she also supported a global risk management standard.
Carol held roles at Hess and BP in project management, delivering complex megaprojects both in the USA and around the world. One notable project achieved the first commercial deployment of innovative seismic technology, now ubiquitous in deepwater developments. She began her career as a geoscientist at Amoco Corporation, where she also worked in corporate planning and as an executive coach.
Carol has traveled to fifty countries and all fifty states, which contributes to her expansive world view and deep appreciation for the power of diversity, equity, and inclusion. A few examples include: conducting geological fieldwork in Pakistan and Ecuador; working with executives to shape projects in Egypt, Indonesia, China, and France; and deploying lean processes in North Dakota field operations.
